Calendar of Events!
This page is definitely neglected!! Aaah! We’ve been mostly posting the events and dates on our blog page, as we work on constructing an actual calendar for this page. So, please check out the blog and we’ll revamp this page as soon as possible.
Some events planned are; Winter Lecture and Seminar Series, Abenaki Fun Show, more Tom Davis Clinics, more jump nights, a musical horse night, more Cancer Support groups, and more and more and more!
The farm has lots of great events planned to host and sponsor. We love suggestions too!
Here is a list of some past events that we held, some of which we will be holding again!
Equine Shot Clinic
This was a huge success last Spring so plan to attend next Spring! Bring your equine friends to the farm for their Spring shots. Dr. Lester and his staff from Northern Lakes Veterinary Clinic administer shots including West Nile, rabies, and other Spring necessities including the Coggins test. There will be no farm call charge and shots will be discounted with group rates. We will also have a farrier on hand to trim or shoe and to answer any questions you may have related to your horses’ feet.
Adoption Day!
December, ’08 was our first community all-animal adoption day! This day was dedicated to people who are trying to place their animals – of any kind – find homes with people who would like to add a new member to their family. Give us some feedback if you’d like us to have another one!
Cowboy Mounted Shooting Demo
Come join the fun and see a little bit of the West! Local Cowboy Mounted Shooters will show their stuff and answer questions about this exciting new sport! Again, stay tuned for the date!
Fall Sell-All!
This fun-filled, community-wide barn/yard sale was held, October 17, 2009. A portion of the proceeds benefited our foster horse, Chino, from NEER (New England Equine Rescue), as well as, a local 4-H group. All types of items ranging from saddles, harnesses, riding apparel and equipment, to furniture, toys, antiques and bicycles were on hand for sale – and the yummy snacks, coffee and cider was an added treat! Some items are still available so if you’re looking for a saddle, horse blanket, saddle pad or other item, give us a call, we might have it for you!
Demonstration and Introduction to Clicker Training!
Jane Jackson, clinician, has been Clicker Training for over 10 years: from foals to competition horses to aged school horses. Jane has attended several seminars with Alexandra Kurland, the premier Clicker Trainer for horses. In addition, she is a Primary Level TAGteach instructor and loves to share the benefits she has received from Clicker Training with others.
4-H Grafton County Hippology Event & Horse Judging
Three different, local 4-H groups met at the farm to learn all about horse judging. In-hand and under saddle, warmbloods and stock horses were judged by the members and then results reviewed by professional judge, Deb Besmer. It proved very interesting and a lot of fun! There was also a practical exam with tack and educational boards, and an individual oral safety effort problem with a 4-H Leader. Thanks to all who volunteered their time and horses. Can’t wait to see you all again!
